Blog Your Blessings Sunday : Remembered Joy

My mother died in 1995. Although it was expected, I still miss her. When I found this blessing, it resonated deeply with me about my mom. I love you, mom. Your grandson grew to be a fine man and the trees you planted are now 30 feet tall.

Remembered Joy

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all...

I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.
My life's been full, I've savoured much:
Good times, good friends, a loved-one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief—
Don't shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.

My favorite line: "And if my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy." It made me stop and think of people in my life that I have lost. Thank you for bringing them to mind this Sunday morning. That's a beautiful poem and lovely tribute to your mother. I'm sure that she is smiling right now.

Thanks for publishing this. It's always nice to take time away from bussiness pursuits and enjoy some thoughts about spiritual things. Keep up the good work!
