Whyville is a 3D online world, aimed at kids ages 8 to 15. It is a virtual world that educates kids about everything from viruses to global warming, from how to build cars to personal finance. The population of Whyville is 68 percent female from 140 countries. Whyville is fun and serves the real life purpose of teaching science.
In Texas, Whyville recently received grants totaling $440,000 from the Texas Workforce Commission to build Whyville Biotech and Whyville Advanced Manufacturing Center (San Antonio Express News online 8/6).
