Peace,
in the sense of the absence of war,
is of little value to someone
who is dying of hunger or cold.
It will not remove the pain
of torture inflicted on a
prisoner of conscience.
It does not comfort those who have lost their
loved ones in floods caused by senseless
deforestation in a neighboring country.
Peace can only last where human rights
are respected, where people are fed,
and where individuals and nations are free.

Thanks for these words today. An important thought. Times are getting tough all around. We need compassion in vast amounts.
An interesting entry. One that requires some thought. Have a good week.

really Thanks for these !
Excellent post.thanks for sharing. I like the pictures.Keep on posting.
That's wonderful. Peace is valuable only when we are experiencing it. However we cannot truly know peace unless we have experienced the opposite! Obviously I'm not condoning violence or war, I'm very much pro-peace, however the truth of our experience is that we cannot know something until we know it's opposite. Light would have no meaning to us without the dark, hot would have no place without cold etc.

@monza-Thanks for stopping by.
@hostmonster-Thanks.
@dan-Excuse me, but bullshit. A child that is fed, loved and well is happy and does not have to know starvation, deprivation and dysentery to appreciate it. According to you, I should hit myself so it feels good when I stop. No more war, no more hunger, no more rape and pillage. It is time for global development.
good thoughts in these times where food is lacking & the cost of living is on a disturbing uptrend
sometimes makes me think that the more we know, the worse off we are?
(addendum: as in the knowledge of economics, nuclear power, etc, etc yet the most basic need of food remains a worry)
