However, there is hope for the overwhelmed marketer who wishes to stay up to date. The following post on the Search Insider resonated with me.
MediaPost Publications Hot SEO Trend for 2010:Getting Back To Basics 03/03/2010 - READ
Below are excerpts from this article written by Rob Garner, strategy director for iCrossing, a digital marketing company. He makes a lot of sense. Stick to the basics, no matter the media.
Market research - If you don't know who you are trying to convert, or which type of user is most likely to convert, then your marketing efforts are off on a tangent from the get-go.
Content development - If you've done the right research, then content development is the next step.
Good tech hygiene, and clean architecture - Beyond knowing your customer and content, having a cleanly accessible and marked-up home for your content is essential to search performance.
Domain equity, trust, and authority - Having a foundation of trust and authority is also key for achieving long-term positive search performance.

It's funny how many companies plan strategies without knowing first who their clients are. So, a thorough market research is the first thing one should do.
I like the most is "Having a foundation of trust and authority is the key for achieving long-term positive search performance." It's the main thing which each social media community user has to do for long term relations.
SEO is the best way to increase their visitors and improve business. Thank your for sharing this info. I need to thankful to you.
I'm glad that you did not give up on SEO. I still see it as a continuing technique and skill, which application would still be relevant throughout the net life. There is a great market out there for "SEOed" articles, which ghostwriters, re-writers and spinners are making a career out of it. I see SEO as the human counterpart in the computer technology. Do you know why? Because it's the human mind, raw and original that is at work despite the production of most "intelligent" microprocessors. Thanks for your post.
Thanks for the useful info. I would say "market reseach" is the most important part for the success of online business. By doing "market research", you will know who is your potential customer, what info they are looking for and what type of product they are looking for. Then, from "market research", you can figure out the right keywords and apply SEO techniques to bring long term free traffic for your online business.
As a beginner in this whole area I obviously don't know the answers but am glad that I am not the only one who is thinking that SEO might still have some value...Know all I need to do is learn how to maximize that value!
SEO is definitely the classic way to get traffic for our site. But I say the whole aspects of SEO are very important to do. Not just market research, but also articles optimization which has been SE "Food" to get our site ranked.
I think in successful online business everything starts from picking the right domain. If you have right keywords in domain half of the work is done.
Great article, now that is the kind of effect this article is supposed to reach. You’ve given me enough info on how to explain Basic SEO to my client.
Cheers to you :)
It's not always about social networks. Sometimes, you just need to blog and you'll earn money and rank well!
