Blog Your Blessing : Two Wolves

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. He said, 'My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.'

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: 'Which wolf wins?'

The old Cherokee simply replied, 'The one you feed.'

Which wolf are you feeding?

That's the lesson in humility I needed this a.m. as I struggle with a resentment or two. You are always right on the mark, a blessing and a treasure. God bless. And thanks for the picture of these beautiful smiling pups!

An excellent blessing and an excellent diagram of the sides of all our humanity... (Thanks for the birthday wishes!)

This is one of my favorites--the wolves story, and I really love the photo you added with it! I forgot to congratulate you last week for your travel award! But better late than never, so a BIG congratulations! Both your son and you are in my prayers!

Wonderful repeat of that Cherokee legend. I have heard before and good to be reminded of it. Indeed a blessing!

I got a photo up of the new tree but it is kinda dark against the overcast sky this morning so one has to enlarge to see the tree against the building.

Thanks for stopping by!

@sandy-They are beautiful. Hard to imagine people shooting them down from helicopters.

@sue-I am feeding my bad wolf today.

@matthew-Hope your birthday was a great one.

@kuanyin-Thank you! I appreciate your reading my other blogs.

@paulie-The native Americans were not perfect, but they lived more harmoniously with nature. I'll stop by to see the picture.

While this is true, which wolf will win. Is there any way to somehow lean towards one or the other. Great photo.

I heard this long time ago, had forgotten all about it. I adore the picture you put with the story.
Do you mind if I share this with the people reading my blog? Of course I'll link you to give you some extra hits.

I love posts that make me think, bravo!

I know in my case, it is not two wolves: there is a pack. What's more I can't tell the "good" wolves from the "bad" ones --- I just have to muddle through as best I can.

cute - both the pic of the two wolves, and the story of the two wolves itself

i love wolves very much. I just can't stand how people can be so cruel, and kill these helpless animals. I love wolves as much as I love tigers. I have a tiger site, but had to remove the guest book. People started to abuse it, someone was trying to claim my site as her own. I was thinking about doing one for wolves. Please let me know what you think.

@facepaint-You are most welcome.

@bernhard-Thanks for visiting.

@moneybites-Each to their own wolf, I think.

@tink-You are welcome to use it. I did not write it.

@whatever-I live to make you think. LOL

@stev-I am glad I shared it with you.

@susan-Your link led nowhere, so I wait for you to return.
