Find a Career--Not Just Another Job

Are you looking for a new career? Most facets of healthcare are going to boom as the entire Baby Boomer generation ages. If you can afford the time and tuition, you may want to become a nurse. If you want to work in a nursing home, you may take a course and become a Certified Nursing Assistant. If you want to work in a doctor's office, you may want to look into becoming a medical assistant.

According to the United States Department of Labor,
Medical Assistant employment is projected to grow much faster than average, ranking medical assisting among the fastest growing occupations over the next decade. Job opportunities should be excellent, particularly for those with formal medical assistant training. (Occupational Outlook).
St. Augustine School of Medical Assistants is fully accredited and certified by The National Accreditation and Certification Board, a private non-governmental professional health accreditation organization.

Class work includes Medical Terminology, Basic Human Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Records, Basic Medical Law, Medical Billing and Insurance Claims, Infection Control, Emergency Care, Patient History and Physicals, EKG and Lab Testing, Clinical Labs include Phlebotomy, Injections, Basic Ultrasound and Introduction to Basic Ultrasound

The textbook, workbook and CD program for medical assistant is called Outline Review for the Medical Assistant (2nd ed., Hemby, MP). The text is available online at Amazon.com for about $50.

Very interesting article. I remember when my senior mom was in her mid-40s and I was in high school. She went back to school to be a nursing assistant. She finished the course, but then ended up taking care of her aging aunt with dementia symptoms. She used all that she had learned, but in a personal way. Which goes to prove education is never wasted, even if we don't always use it the way we meant to. :)
